Connecting accounts

Open Accounts, choose the platform and finish its permission flow. When you return, check the exact account name before preparing a post.

  • Instagram needs a Creator or Business account linked to a Facebook Page you can manage. Select the intended Page during connection.
  • Facebook publishes to Pages, not personal profiles.
  • For YouTube, verify the actual channel; your Google email alone does not identify a Brand Account channel.
  • TikTok currently requires an approved sandbox tester account. Changing between inbox upload and Direct Post can require a new permission grant.

If the account is wrong or a required permission was declined, reconnect and review the platform’s choices. A configured integration does not mean every account can use it.

Video and captions

Start with an original video you have rights to share. Review its dimensions and platform preview. The preview is illustrative: each platform may frame or process the finished video differently.

  • Text limit indicators show what fits per destination. The fitted text shown in review is the text prepared for that platform; your original draft remains intact.
  • YouTube needs a title and an explicit Made for Kids choice. Select the correct audience for your content.
  • Only supported location and metadata fields are sent. Review any notices instead of assuming the same details reach every platform.
  • For TikTok inbox uploads, copy the caption and paste it inside TikTok if needed. Caption transfer through that manual flow has not yet been fully validated.

TikTok: inbox upload or Direct Post?

Draft in TikTok

This sends the video to TikTok’s inbox. Delivery and playback have been tested in the iPhone beta. Open the inbox notification, review the video and caption, choose the audience, and finish publishing in TikTok. It will not appear as a published post merely because the upload completed.

Direct Post

This is intended to publish after your explicit review in Shortcast. It is implemented but end-to-end validation and public approval are pending. Current restricted testing requires TikTok-permitted accounts and privacy settings; unaudited tests require a private account and Only me visibility.

If you want to keep an account public, do not change its privacy just to proceed. Use the inbox option or contact support about an appropriate test account. Do not retry a permission error as a new post.

Uploads and recovery

Keep Shortcast open and use a stable connection until each destination has a clear result. Full background transfer and scheduled posting are not implemented.

  • If an upload pauses, open its saved History item and follow the recovery instructions. It may ask for the original video or the original account.
  • If the app says to check the platform, look for the actual video there before uploading again. An error or timeout is not proof that nothing was published.
  • Reconnecting an account does not automatically retry a saved post. Return to the saved item and explicitly continue when it is ready.
  • Engagement data depends on platform permissions and availability. Missing values are not the same as zero, and not every platform exposes every count.

Disconnecting and deleting data

Disconnect accounts from Shortcast while online, then follow the data-deletion instructions. Deleting the app alone does not revoke a platform permission or immediately remove a TikTok renewal record.
